It also includes a correction to ensure CPP2 over-contributions self-correct when payroll is reopened and reprocessed.

• What’s New: A new employee-level Vacation Pay Type allows administrators to assign vacation pay payouts on every paycheque directly via employee leave settings.

• Simplified Setup: Vacation pay no longer needs to be configured through loading pay.

• Automatic Updates: Dollar calculations automatically reflect changes to the employee's applicable gross earnings and base rate.

• More Flexibility: Loading pay remains available for shift premiums, site allowances, and specialized pay adjustments.

• What’s New: Administrators can specify whether an earning accrues vacation dollars separately for each province within the same pay component subtype.

• Example: Statutory holiday earnings can generate vacation dollar accruals for employees in British Columbia while excluding employees in Alberta.

🛠️ Bugs & Fixes

CPP2 Annual Maximum Self-Correction

• Issue: When transitioning from another payroll system, historical CPP2 contributions may sometimes exceed the annual contribution threshold. Previously, these over-contributions did not automatically reconcile when payroll was reprocessed.

• Fix: Logic has been introduced where excess CPP2 contributions automatically self-correct to the accurate statutory threshold upon reopening and reprocessing the pay run.

  • Excess Employee Deductions: Refunded directly through payroll.

  • Employer Contributions & CRA Remittances: Automatically adjusted to match correct thresholds.

🎯 What This Means for You:

• Active Employees: Over-contributions will automatically self-correct on the employee's next open pay run.

  • Terminated Employees (Requires Administrator Action): Automatic self-correction will not trigger automatically for terminated employees on closed profiles. The payroll administrator must manually action the correction by either manually adjusting the employee's record or placing the terminated employee onto an adjustment payroll run to calculate and release the correction

🚀 Looking Ahead

We are continuously exploring future enhancements for Canadian Vacation Management, such as optional payslip balance display controls and regional customization settings. Future updates will be shared as development progresses.

• No Existing Configurations Were Changed: ZonePayroll has not modified any of your account's existing setup or rule mappings. All enhancement updates will apply strictly prospectively going forward.

• Standard Subtypes Required for Automation & Balance Reporting: To take advantage of these new features—including employee balance visibility, consolidated reporting, and automated termination payouts—your account must be utilizing our standard pay component subtypes.
